The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Being in a rather introspective mood today, I have been contemplating the source of my so called strength.
There is no doubt that there isn't a single soul on the face of this earth who has not undergone, is undergoing and shall continue to undergo what my dad likes to call 'takleef'- 'pain'. That is what the definition of the world is. Ironically, this very pain, the grief, the trauma, the despair is what highlights pockets of joy and happiness in a spectacular way. It takes loss to know gain. It takes stress to know relaxation. It takes evil to know good.
Sometimes, a blast from the past hits you right in the face. But you are helpless because your life has taught you that every action has consequences. If you have lived as much as I have (not talking about age here), you also realise the long term cost over a short term gain. Oh the evil of wisdom- had I been but an ignorant fool. But I am not ignorant. Naive- yes, but not ignorant.
So in the face of tragic circumstances hold on fast. Hold on to faith- to belief that all will ultimately be well- pickled with trauma here and there yes- but well. Our problem is, we tend to see the hurt and pain ever so much more than the good. We so easily forget the good. Hold on to the good in the moment- look at the future and then work to get there. But don't sit idle. Take a break if you must- but keep on moving.
